Amy Cimarolli

Land Protection Director

As Director of Land Protection Program, Amy’s work for the West Virginia Land Trust adds more conserved forests, farmlands, and wildlife habitats protecting the State’s working lands, waters, and natural heritage.  She applies her experience as a professional forester  and land steward to develop conservation easements that work for private landowners  while protecting the conservation values of their properties.  She applies her knowledge of proper land protection procedures to acquire land and land rights for the organization when doing so advances our collaborations with communities to provide public access to natural or historic areas and open space.

Her appreciation for that state’s beauty and natural diversity has made Amy a West Virginian by choice. Her passion and love for forests — first recognized as a career path at Virginia Tech, where she earned her B.S. in Forestry & Wildlife and M.S. in Forest Management — led her to experiences at the private consulting firm Foresters Incorporated, The Nature Conservancy in West Virginia (and Montana for one glorious summer!), Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge, and her own forestry consulting business where she offered forest management services to private landowners in between.   Protecting the beautiful and productive lands of West Virginia energizes her work and motivates her to find creative and collaborative solutions to do so.
