Amy Cimarolli

Land Protection Director

Directing the Land Protection Program, Amy’s work adds forests, farms, streams, and wildlife habitats to the state’s protected lands, waters, and natural heritage.  Following the Land Trust Alliance’s recommended best practices for land protection, the Program develops conservation easements that work for private landowners and acquires land for public recreation, historical preservation, and nature preserves.  The Land Trust’s work supports WV communities by protecting forests that clean water and air, and keeping productive lands in forestry and agricultural uses.

Her appreciation for that state’s beauty and natural diversity has made Amy a West Virginian by choice. Her passion and love for forests — first recognized at Virginia Tech, where she earned her B.S. in Forestry & Wildlife and M.S. in Forest Management — led her to work experiences at the private consulting firm Foresters Incorporated, The Nature Conservancy in West Virginia (and Montana for one glorious summer!), Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge, and her own forestry consulting business.   Protecting the beautiful and productive lands of West Virginia energizes her work and motivates her to find creative and collaborative solutions to do so.
