WVLT recently launched our first “Mindful Walk” at Toms Run Preserve, located 10 minutes south of Morgantown. We partnered with Trailhead Counseling to develop 8 mindful prompts along a trail to encourage participants to slow down, take in the sensory experience, and detach from life’s daily pressures to recognize the bigger world we all inhabit. Our Mindful Walk builds on an enormous body of research that recognizes that time spent outdoors contributes positively to physical and mental health. It’s a de-stressor; it relieves depression, improves creativity, reduces high blood pressure, and enhances learning and problem-solving abilities in children, among many others.
