Carol Proops Milam is a native West Virginian, born and raised in Charleston. Her childhood was punctuated by frequent forays into the woods surrounding her house with her 3 older brothers and their trusty dog (and cat!) Her love of the outdoors translated into enjoying hiking, canoeing, backpacking, and skiing in WV while living in Morgantown. Training took her to Utah for 5 years which afforded an opportunity to explore the western US. Carol returned east to practice psychiatry in Nashville TN before returning to WV in 2020. Since her return, she has engaged in the amazing community of Tucker County by working in local businesses, teaching yoga, and recently began psychiatric consultations for a FQHC in caring for underserved areas in WV.
Cultural traveling, long distance hiking and exploring wilderness has been a long-time passion and taken her to Asia, The Middle East, Europe, Central and South America, as well as throughout the US. But her favorite place of all is right outside her front door which has provided the scenery for many a spectacular evening hosting parties and events for friends and organizations.
Her other loves are cooking, reading, movies, swimming, and gardening.
