Celebrate Arbor Day Early - Plant Trees with the WVLT

If you are in or around the Charleston area on April 10th come and join the WVLT at the Wallace Hartman Nature Preserve for a volunteer tree planting day!

The Wallace Hartman Nature Preserve is a public recreation area in the heart of South Hills that is protected by the WVLT through a conservation easement. The enterance to the 50+ acre preserve is off of Adrian Drive which is accessible from South Ruffner Rd.

The WVLT has received sycamore seedlings courtesy of the WV Division of Forestry which will be planted near the enterance to the preserve and will help to stabilize the stream banks and absorb seasonal standing water. It is our hope that the trees will help improve accessibility to the site for hiking and other passive recreation.

We need volunteers to assist us in maintaining the preserve so please plan to come out and show your support. Planting activities will take place from 9:00 am until noon. Volunteers are asked to provide their own work gloves and water bottles and to dress appropriately for the weather.

For more information or to sign up to volunteer please contact Calah Young at 304-346-7788.
